Do you feel that your mood depends on how your face looks that day that whether or not you’d have a good day? If you do, I can totally relate with you. The condition of my face makes a huge impact on my self confidence, appearance and of course my mood. Good skin days are the best days and I feel nothing less that a rock star wherein a bad face day can totally turn the table upside down.  I know my all this may sound cliche, but only the people who have experienced it can totally understand the physical and psychological pressure that comes with pimples.

I barely remember my teenage life without pimples and I hated it! Everyone used to console me by saying that it’s just a phase and things would get better. I am in my mid twenties now and trust me, I still get pimples. There’s isn’t  a way to get rid of pimples forever but there are certain prevention but one can take to control it to some extent.

1. CTM & E – Cleaning, Toning, Moisturizing & Exfoliating:

This is probably the most IMPORTANT step in any skincare regime.

Cleaning: It all starts with a clean face! Don’t just grab whatever product is at the sink to wash your face. You don’t have to buy fancy, expensive products either. The key is to find skincare that works for you. Go for a cleanser made for your skin type. Toning: This step is often ignored by a lot of us. Toning not only helps in maintaining the pH balance of your skin, but also remove extra oil, making your face less shiny, and clean.

Moisturizing: I can’t emphasize enough on the importance of a moisturizer. Moisturizer should not be avoided, even if you have oily skin.Yes, you read it right! Moisturizers are there to keep your skin from drying out. You must use it every single day & the best way to apply it is when your skin is still damp from washing or rinsing to help seal in moisture. If you have acne or your skin is oily, gel moisturizer which is lightweight, oil-free & works best for oily skin.

Exfoliating: Exfoliation, helps in getting rid of dry, flaky dead skin cells. It also helps in removing tan & makes your skin looks brighter & clearer. Now, this is not to be done everyday. Twice a week should be good enough.

2. Diet:

A healthy skin is a reflection of healthy body. Learn to eat smart! A great menu is a balanced menu. Also, you must drink at least 8 glasses of water every single day. Water helps in keeping your skin hydrated from within and delays signs of ageing. You may add a dash of lemon or mint leaves for some flavor. Avoid soft drinks, tea or coffee.

3. Exercise:

We all know the benefits of exercise to our overall health. However, do you  know that exercise also benefits the skin in many ways? It keeps you looking young, helps minimise free radicals and promotes a healthy glowing complexion by producing more of its natural oils that keep the skin feeling soft and supple.

Exercising helps you metabolize. It nourishes skin cells and promotes vitality because more blood flow means more oxygen. A walk with your dog or some yoga lessons do make a difference! Healthy skin is just another part of a healthy body.

4. Sleep Clean:

Your skin needs to breathe while it’s sleeping. Don’t clog it by not removing your makeup. Leaving makeup overnight may clog your pored which leads to acne. It can be very tempting to go to bed without removing your makeup but think again!

5. Bad Habits For Your Skin:

Do not pick those pimples! It may leave a permanent scar. Avoid touching your face, you can transfer bacteria from your hands to your face. Use clean makeup tools & keep them sanitized. Also, keep that second cup of coffee down & if possible, avoid smoking. Sleep for at least 8 hours! They don’t call it a beauty sleep for nothing.
