Constantly at the helm of beauty innovation MAC have created several key trends that incorporate the main elements of MAC A/W ’13 TRENDS – REB-ELLE, PERSPEX-TIV, SPIRITUAL EYES & AU-CURRANT
Petrol-like pigment points to the future of the classic eye – a subversive new sophistication where charcoal meets deepened jewel tones. As makeup artist Kabuki sums up, it’s “cool with dangerous edge.”
The star look of the Reb-elle girl is a sexy, messy smoky eye paired with a flawless complexion, perfectly sculpted cheeks and neutral colored lips. The contrast between the rough, edgy eye makeup and the polished, impeccable skin is what makes this trend work so well, so make sure you prep and prime your skin to perfection before you go for “The Morning After” Makeup Look.
SPIRITUAL EYES :
“Ghostly smoke.” Val Garland describes the emotively shaded, cloudy grey tones of this season’s soulful, ethereally romantic eye.
Completely opposite to the dark eye make-up featured in Reb-elle is the second M.A.C Makeup Trend of the season, Spiritual-eye. The look combines cool tones, ethereal shades with a glossy, porcelain complexion.
Austere and pure, a focus on how skin picks up the light with very matte organic to highly synthetic shine. “It’s a new way of revisiting the monochrome effect,” says makeup artist Val Garland.
Complexion is given a dewy, glowing shine and eye makeup is kept to a minimum. This natural and almost romantic makeup can be accomplished easily, by applying a neutral, bright eye shadow or a metallic neutral on the lid all the way up to the eyebrows and by adding a highlighter on the inner corners of the eyes.
Beguiling Bordeaux to a glossy volt of cranberry, the new crimson is rich with modern mystery. “It’s emotion elevated to an art form,” affirms Director of Makeup Artistry Terry Barber.
While Reb-elle draws focus on the eyes, Au-Currant emphasizes the lips and keeps the eye makeup to a minimum, while adding just a soft hint of blush. Vibrant, matte shades of red, purple, coral or raspberry were trending throughout all four Fashion Weeks, in Ohne Titel, Badgley Mischka, Oscar de la Renta, Fendi, Antonio Marras, Marni, Rachel Zoe and Sally LaPointe shows.
